A local Boy Scout earned his Eagle Scout ranking just in the nick of time, the now-Clemson freshman said. Campbell Gnegy of Troop 59 said it was a race against time to finish his final service project that would secure his Eagle rank. Boy Scouts have until their 18th birthday to complete all the requirements to become an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement a scout can earn. Topping the list of requirements, among a slew of merit badges and leadership roles, is a comprehensive service project. Gnegy had grand plans for a collaboration with the National Park Service: a pad where volunteers could park their RVs while at the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site in Mount Pleasant.
